A major mixed-use district will soon expand its leasable space by 50 percent and fill the land between Katy Freeway and Interstate 10 in Houston. The project represents a partnership between LaSalle Investment Management in Chicago and Midway Cos. in Houston. They plan to develop more than 6 acres of land in CityCentre, which will result in about 740,000 new square feet of office space, as well as 22,400 square feet of dining and retail space on the ground floor. An acre of green space will lie at the center of the project. The project’s high rise will include 13 stories and 270 units of luxury multifamily living space. All construction will be completed in accordance with standards set for LEED Gold certification.
Two new office towers will be built north of CityCentre Five, a project currently underway at 825 Town & Country Way. Both towers will be 16 stories, with nine parking levels and a rooftop terrace on the fourth floor.
The oil industry in Houston has prompted a great deal of this growth. Katy Freeway and The Woodlands combined currently have more than 10 million square feet of office space under construction.
